Brief History:

Till the year 2002 there was no organized Christian Community in Thirumulaivoyil. Some of the Catholics who were residing in this place attended the Church in Ambattur. With the support of the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, a few families of Thirumulaivoyil and some interested parishioners of Ambattur Parish organized funds and purchased nearly 5 ‘ grounds of land. Initially a Presbytery was built on this land. Auxiliary Bishop of Madras-Mylapore, Rt Rev Dr Lawrence Pius laid the foundation stone for the building. In 2005 the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Dr A M Chinnappa SDB blessed the new Church. In commemoration of the ‘Year of the Eucharist’ which concluded in a grand celebration at Besant Parish on 16th October 2005, the present Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Dr A M Chinnappa SDB named the new Church as ‘Church of the Eucharist.’ This Church is at present a sub-station of Ambattur Parish, but shortly it will be declared as a separate parish.
